Why do I need a resetter?
All Canon Pixma Ink Cartridges have a smart chip attached. This tiny circuit board tells your printer that it is a canon cartridge and then as print, it tells your computer how much ink you have left in the cartridge. Finally it notifies you when the cartridge is empty.
If you refill that ink cartridge and place it back in your printer, your printer will only recognize it as an empty cartridge. The chip must be reset to its original specs for your printer to recognize it as a canon cart and full of ink.
How can I tell if I need a cli-8/pgi-5 or cli-221/pgi-220 resetter
Open your printer and look at the top of the original ink cartridges that came with it. On top of each cartridge it will say: cli-8 or cli-221, or pgi-5, or pgi 220, or some other number. If you have one of the number series above, we have a resetter, empty refillable ink cartridges with or without auto reset chips, Canon oem chips, ink and even G&G compatible ink cartridges for your printer.
